When he gót it several severaI years ago aIl he did tó it was cóat it in páint. All the thick paint it going to be a pain to get off but Im not complaining, it really preserved it super well and the thing is just in amazing shape. Im not exactly sure of its date of manufacture but its a sweet old thing. Theres still somé work rémaining but I havé the bulk óf the heavy wórk over. Its only a matter of getting her in position with a new flat belt, connect up the coolant lines, new switch gear and then happy drilling. It is frozén up top ánd Im in thé process of cóaxing it free. I built the wood column around a jack post just so I could get it mounted and working. I look at things like this old mechanical machinery and I am always impressed with the ingenuity of the people that came up with those ideas. I have á few 75x75mm steel posts in the workshop and as it happens if you weld bolts to each side of these posts the spacing is just about right to bolt the drill onto them. All I did was spray it down with WD-40 and oil it up, works like a champ.
